Bucim Starts Clean-Up of Polluted Waters PDF
ds.jpgThe main objective of this initiative is to further improve the environmental situation and quality of life for citizens who have been living in and around polluted areas for the past 30 years.

 

The construction works for water protection system in Bucim copper mine officially started. The system will collect all polluted waters and recycle them in the mine’s technological process. The main objective of this initiative is to further improve the environmental situation and quality of life for citizens who have been living in and around polluted areas for the past 30 years. Bucim Deputy Director Nikolov praised this important step, stating that it will ensure the sustainability of the water clean-up and water management systems. UNDP Project Manager Stavric added that this initiative will lead towards ensuring full protection of the surface and groundwater not only in the area surrounding the Bucim mine, but also downstream in Rivers Lakavica and Bregalnica.
