Public Presentation of the FA and MTD-Bucim, Skopje PDF

On February 17, 2009, in the Parliamentarian's club in Skopje, UNDP Hot Spots Project organized presentation of the FA and MTD for Water Protection Measures - Bucim Mine.

On this event, among other, present was Mr. Nexhati Jakupi, MoEPP Minister, and Ms. Marije Maessen, First Secretary ,Embassy of Kindom Of Netherlands in Macedonia.

Mr. Nexhati Jakupi, MoEPP Minister, held introductory speech wherehe underlined the Regional Programme for Remediation of High PriorityHot Spots.

"Main objective of this programme is improvement ofthe situation with the environment and better quality of life for thelocal population through real measures for clean up of the ecologicalHot Spots, improvement of the policy dialogue on national and locallevel, and strengthenin of the sector of professional consultancyservices in the field of environment. This is one of the biggestregional programmes dealing with protection of the environment."said Mr. Jakupi before adding that the MOEPP as a whole and he asMinister will be actively involved in the proper implementation of thisproject and once again act as lider and serious partner in remediationof the Hot Spots.

Mr. Vladimir Stavric, UNDP Hot Spots NationalProject Coordinator, made introductory presentation of the implementedand foreseen activities stressing that appart from the donation fromthe Kingdom of Netherlands, significant financial contribution forproject implementation also made the Ministry of Environment andPhysical Planning and Bucim Mine.

Mr. Botio Tabakov, BTEngineering Ltd, General Manager, presented the FA and MTD for WaterProtection Measures,  where elaborates three alternative solutions forwater management and gives proposal for the most appropriate solution"variant 2.2" that gives sustainability and option for refund of theinvestment and operational costs as this option foresees utilization ofthe wastewater copper.  

After the discussion, Mr. Stavric concluded the meeting and underlinet the following conclusions::

1. Organizing meeting between Bucim Mine managerial team, UNDP and MoEPPto agree on the procedure for raising additional funds forimplementation of the variant 2.2.

2. Variant 2.2. is acceptableto all the stakeholders, and additional effort should be made toconjstruct the WWTP with the variant 2.2 as latest as middle of 2010.
