 MK Hot Spots Project has organized a Study Tour in Bulgaria 3-5 Dec, 2008 for representatives of Bucim Mine, Municipality of Radovis, and the MoEPP. One remediated copper mine and one treatment plant have been visited. The sites were selected due to similarity to planned interventions in Bucim Mine.
A visit to Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and Energy and a meeting with
the Director of Directorate for NaturalResources and Concessions have
been very useful for the participants due to gained insight into
administrative and organizational setup, financial implications and
solutions regarding the historical mining waste in a country recently
associated to EU, and in process of harmonization of legislation.
