On August 28th 2008, Bucim Mine, Radovis, celebrated the "Miners Day" and the Orthodox Religious Holiday "Dormittion of the Virgin"
protector of the Miners.
On the same day, a visit to the Bucim Mine Project Site was planned
by the UNDP Regional Environmental Management Team from Podgorica,
Montenegro accompanied by Ms. Anita Kodzoman UNDP Environment and
Energy Cluster, and UNDP Hot Spots Project Staff Mr. Vladimir Stavric,
Project Manager and Mr. Ardian Skikuli, Project Assistant.
On
this occasion, Mr. Nikolajco Nikolov, Deputy General Manager, held a
welcoming speech extending his appreciation to the event participants
in general and briefly elaborated this year successes of the Bucim
Mine, and made points on the environmental issues that need to be
tackled.
" Bucim is often mentioned as environmental
Hot Spot and i would like to say couple of words about it; Thanks to
the engagement of our Government, and the readiness of the Kingdom of
Netherlands, we managed to get grant through UNDP of approximately 1
mil. EUR accompanied with our investment of approximately 500 thousand
EUR, thus creating preconditions for thorough resolution of this issue,
where already a light of prospect is seen the waters and the air around
Bucim Mine to be clean. therefore, i would like to use this opportunity
and express my sincerest gratitude to the Kingdom of Netherlands and
UNDP". said Mr. Nikolov.
Right after the speech Mr. Nikolov handed medals of appreciation and symbolic financial awards to the best Bucim Mine workers.
Medal of appreciation was also awarded to Ms. Maria Luisa Silva
Mejias,UNDP Resident Representative, received by Ms. Anita Kodzoman, as
recognition to the efforts made to address and tackle the Environmental
issues in the Bucim Mine area.
