Capacity Building Plan Adopted |

A Capacity Building Plan was adopted in October 2009, following a consultation process with all relevant stakeholders. The Capacity Building activities have been separated in 5 Lots, each focusing on environmental protection targeting a specific group of stakeholders, while ensuring that all training programs are tailored to the needs of the groups. The feedback received from the trainees to date has been very favorable about the quality of the programs and their relevance for the day-to-day work.

Round Table- Historical Mining Pollution |

1. Current situation with the historical mining and industrial pollution in Macedonia
2. Current national legislation and the EU approximation needs
3. National and Local capacity building needs

On February 12, 2009 in the premises of Bucim Mine, Mr. Botio Tabakov, BT Engineering General Manager, presented the Feasibility Assessment and Main Technical Design for Water Protection Measures - Bucim Mine. This presentation meeting was organized by UNDP Hot Spots Project and hosted by Bucim Management.

Study Tour, Bulgaria |

MK Hot Spots Project has organized a Study Tour in Bulgaria 3-5 Dec, 2008 for representatives of Bucim Mine, Municipality of Radovis, and the MoEPP. One remediated copper mine and one treatment plant have been visited. The sites were selected due to similarity to planned interventions in Bucim Mine.
