Strengthening of the Professional Consultancy Services
Database of environmental practitioners: Questionaires for individual practitioners and for companies/institutions/organizations developed; Call for expression of interest published in July, applications received (papers and UNDP web site-CEI 40/2008 and CEI 69/2008). By December 2008, 250+ individual experts, 200+ companies/institutions/organizations/NGOs are identified and listed in database. When fully operational and posted on the web, the database will be promoted to the professional and general public.
Hot Spots Project Starts Up in Bucim Mine, Radovis
The Cooper mine Bucim from Radovis will engage in handling the pollution through UNDP Project and the donation of USD 1.2 million from the Kingdom of Netherlands.
On 12 March 2008, at 10:30 in the premises of the Buchim mine – Radovis, the UN Resident Coordinator / UNDP Resident Representative, Ms. Maria Luisa Silva Mejias, and the General Manager of Buchim mine, Mr. Vasilij Barutskij, will sign a Memorandum of understanding regarding the project “Sustainable mining clean up and pollution management in Bucim and Lojane Mines”. The signing ceremony will also be attended by H.E. the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Macedonia, Ms. Simone Filippini, as well as the Mayor of Radovis, Mr. Robert Velkov.
